Paula Fernandes de Souza is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. A singer since childhood, Fernandes began singing professionally at the age of eight. She released her self-titled debut album independently in 1993 and went on to participate in regional radio and television programs in Minas Gerais, but was unsuccessful. The singer then continued to release albums - among them Ana Rayo (1995), Songs of the South Wind (2005) and Dusty in the Wind (2007) - until she signed with the label Universal Music and released her fifth studio album, Bird of Fire (2009), certified with triple platinum disc by ABPD. The flagship of the album, the title track "Pássaro de Fogo", was in the first position of the musical stops of all Brazil, taking Paula to the stardom.
